Hi and welcome back to an other month on the blog!
This month I have been busy again with swaps, quilt making and the Succulence Blog Tour for which I have been chosen together with 16 other makers !!! How exciting is that!
The Tour is almost at its end, there is only one more day after my day! So if you are keen to see what all the others made go to Bonnie Christine her blog! The full line up is there. Yesterday we had the lovely Katharina from Der Rabe im Schlamm … Yes thats right, with this tour we show you all sorts of different ideas that you can make with this gorgeous fabric line from Art Gallery Fabrics AND you go across the world too! The United States, Europe and Australia… almost as if you are on a virtual holiday (:
For my day in the spotlight I paper pieced something. The moment Bonnie showed me the fabric I thought about this pattern I saw on InstaGram … of course I could not find it straight away but after some hashtag searching I found it again! The pattern I bought is from Material Girl Quilts and i reckon it suited perfectly for this project.
I made this with my Dad in mind. My parents have retired in Spain and the side that they are on is pretty dry and succulents do very well there! My Dad has plenty of cacti and succulents in his garden and seeing that it is his birthday on the 20th, I made a mini quilt for him. He can use it what ever way he likes. I added 3M’s fridge clips to his little birthday present, as that is how I hang my quilts on the wall or he can use is as a small table runner when they are having their breakfast outside in the garden.
The pattern was easy to follow, of course I made a mistake here and there but nothing a bit unpicking can’t fix! If you have never tried Paper Piecing .. really, you should give it a go!
I quilted this mini by making a grid with an erasable pen. I marked lines 1.5″ apart on a 45 degree angle. I thought it reminded me of chicken wire, I could even pretend that these succulence are on a shelf in a little green house with a wire door… I do have a great imagination, i know.
I hope you enjoyed this little read about the blog tour, please visit the others as well and leave a word of encouragement. We all love to hear what you think of our makes !!
Monday, the 22nd of February is Emi from “Just add Fabric” her turn. She has the last day of the tour and you can find her blog right here
Have a great day, enjoy going thru the line up of all the makers via Bonnie her blog, Going Home To Roost.
Come back soon !!
I will have an other blog up within the next few days to show you my makes of this month!
